Question: Can the size of the switch fuse be the same as the size of the main incoming fuse, or does the rating of the switch fuse need to be lower than the rated value of the main incoming fuse?

Regulation 536.3 requires the coordination of equipment by selecting OCPD in series so that they provide safety and continuity of service.

The selectivity of OCPD to overload is included in Article 56.4.1.2 and Article 536.4.1.3 of Short Circuit Protection.

To meet this requirement, we recommend using a lower rated OCPD in the switch fuse.
