July 26, 2021 – ABB said that this low-voltage switchgear integrates its Emax 2 air circuit breaker (ACB) technology with GE Industrial Solutions’ AKD switchgear to meet the needs of data centers, hospitals, food and beverages, and water /Wastewater, oil and other demanding applications and natural gas and infrastructure.
According to Dick Jackman of ABB, the switchgear provides predictive maintenance functions and connectivity, "to understand, analyze and predict the health of the circuit breaker, so as to obtain a safer, smarter and more reliable solution."
All circuit breakers can be put into/out of the cabinet with the door closed, and all circuit breaker brackets are equipped with a safety baffle mechanism as standard. Ekip trip units provide optional protection features to help reduce arc flash events, such as dual protection settings, second momentary and zone selective interlocking.
As an enhanced security measure, remote racking equipment can be used from 20 feet away. When the circuit breaker is completely removed, the shutters can be padlocked for tagging operations.
