An angry mother said that her home was destroyed on Christmas Eve when an engineer messed up her boiler installation.

Emma Garner from Manchester Withington said she was forced to spend the weekend without heating and hot water and claimed that part of her home was destroyed by British Gas.

The mother of three children said that on Thursday, company workers came to her house to replace the heating tank because the original tank leaked "very slowly".

But according to a report in the Manchester Evening News, when the engineer installed the customized replacement, Emma claimed that they caused a leak in her attic.

The 36-year-old angry lady claimed that it poured water into her home and destroyed her newly renovated bedroom, living room and hollow walls.

However, when the engineers returned on Friday, they told their family that they could not solve the problem, which meant that they did not have hot water or heating on the weekend.

"We paid the highest price," Emma, a teacher, told the media.

"This is ridiculous."

British Gas stated that the house has now returned to electricity and a team will assess the reported damage on Monday.

A spokesperson said: "Our engineers visited Mrs. Ghana's home to repair the leak of the thermos. Unfortunately, there was a problem with the replacement part."

"We know that the lack of hot water and heating is very inconvenient, and we are sorry that Mrs. Ghana is in this situation.

"We have talked to her and let her know that our engineers will visit on Monday to find a solution to the problem as soon as possible.

"Mrs. Ghana's property does have electricity because the circuit breakers in the area affected by the leak are isolated.

"We also let Mrs. Ghana know that if we cause a leak that damages her property, our claims team will investigate and resolve the matter."
